The Fly - 04/04/2012 @ Queen Of Hoxton review
The Fly magazine have posted a great review of the Simply Rad night we played in London back in April.
“Handing over to Cardiff’s Among Brothers, the moody atmosphere transforms into a sweeping love-in of bro-harmonies. They barely fit the stage but the troupe of six carry their orchestral sounds far and beyond the back of the room with mesmerising vocals and tumbling, playful...

Dalston Roof Park and Drive screening tickets -...
On the first date of our June tour we will be playing at Dalston Roof Park in London. The night is being hosted by the ‘See Hear Club’ who have also asked us to pick a film to be screened on the night. After a lot of thought we decided on one of our collective favourites from 2011: ‘Drive’. We’re very excited about this one.

Last call for the Queen of Hoxton tonight in London. We’re playing with Holland, Hold Your Horse Is and Samoans. Hopefully see you there.

New Show - Queen Of Hoxton, London - 04/04/2012
Jen Long of BBC Radio 1 Introducing is curating this one. We’ll be supporting our friends Samoans for the launch of their new single. Further support comes from our best buds Holland. Hold Your Horse Is will be opening.
It’s more of a ‘rock and roll’ affair than we’re accustomed to, but will nevertheless be an awesome night!

Goodbye 2011...
…Hello 2012!
A lot has happened to us this year, we released our first ever EP in January (it seems like ages since it first came out) and a single in September, played some amazing gigs and festivals with some of our favourite bands, and been on two amazing tours. Next year is looking to be even more exciting for us as we’ll be releasing our debut full length album and touring even...

Farewell
We’re sorry to announce that Jess, our violinist, has left Among Brothers. A new career in teaching violin to children means that she felt she could no longer continue playing with us. Jess has been with us right from the very first show, so it’s weird to think she won’t be there for the next tour.
2011 has been a huge year for us with our debut EP release, two tours, festivals, the Radio 1...

Our beloved van, which got us through two tours and various gigs, finally gave up the ghost a week ago. She’ll be going to the scrap yard soon. We’ll be pouring one on the ground for her.
RIP Jean Tour-Van Damme.

Interview with Drunken Werewolf
This interview was originally published in Issue 20, November 2011. Introduction and content by Tiffany Daniels.
Championed by the likes of Bethan Elfyn and Charlie Francis, who’s produced all of the band’s material to date, Among Brothers are a Cardiff six-piece making waves on the underground British music scene. Wielding their new single “Lovers” alongside debut EP Homes, the band release...

New show added.
We will be playing at the Labour Club in Northampton on the 3rd of December 2011. This might possibly be our last gig of the year, as we’re concentrating on writing our album at the moment. Hope to see you down there!

Altsounds - Swn Festival review
Another super kind review of our set at Swn Festival, from Altsounds:
“Next up on the Barely Regal stage was Among Brothers, an “experimental-indie-pop-folk” sextet from right here in Cardiff. The room was absolutely heaving as person upon person attempted to come in to catch a glimpse of this exciting new band right up until the band started. What Among Brothers produced over the next...

Cooler Magazine - SWN Festival review
Cooler mag have written an article about the bands they saw at SWN, us being one of them:
Among Brothers shoehorn themselves onto the stage just after Effort, their sound shimmering on the surface like moonlight on water. “Sŵn is our favourite time of the year”, they shout over the packed room as they tune up. “It’s better than Christmas!” Perfectly poised violin nips around vocal, over...

Miniature Music Press: SWN set review
The people at MMP have said some kind words about our set at SWN festival:
“Barely Regal’s own (and indeed its owners) Among Brothers took an age to soundcheck, all the while person upon person tessellated their heads to build an impenetrable hair wall between MMP and the band. The Undertone pillars were also rather unhelpful in this respect but such is the charm and quirk of the venue...

Mixtape Monday: Jen Long vs Welsh Music vs SWN...
Jen Long was asked by Drowned In Sound to compile a list of bands to watch at SWN Festival, and we have kindly been included. Thanks Jen!
And of course, go see her band Effort too, they’re playing before us on the Barely Regal stage (Sunday 23rd at Undertone) and they’re so much fun!

This Is Fake DIY Review of 'Loved'
Have a read:
“Taking influence from the orchestral likes of Efterklang, Anathallo and Sufjan Stevens, Cardiff six-price Among Brothers fuse an amalgamation of inspiration and instrumentation to interpret their flurry-filled fusions of sweeping sonic soundscapes. Brimming with glitching electronics that alternate with hushed violin-laden melodies, the band’s newest track ‘Loved’ showcases a...
This Is Fubar: INTERVIEW. 018 - AMONG BROTHERS. →

When did Among Brothers form? And, what led you to the sound you have?
We formed around three years ago while everyone was studying in Cardiff University. Originally it was myself, Alex, Isaac and Matt putting some ideas together as bedroom demos. When we were writing these demos we…
