Ridiculously excited to announce that the first play of our brand new single “Keep” will be on Huw Stephen’s show on Radio 1 this coming Wednesday evening (12-2am). The wheels are in motion to get the track released now too, which will be out on tape on Kissability and digitally through Young & Lost Club on the 9th of July.

To whet your appetite/give you an idea of what to expect, here is some audio-visual footage of Sophia recording violins for the track (and absolutely nailing it, might we add).

The Fly magazine have posted a great review of the Simply Rad night we played in London back in April.

“Handing over to Cardiff’s Among Brothers, the moody atmosphere transforms into a sweeping love-in of bro-harmonies. They barely fit the stage but the troupe of six carry their orchestral sounds far and beyond the back of the room with mesmerising vocals and tumbling, playful pianos. Playing from their ‘Homes’ EP, the orchestral songwriting on tracks like ’Montgolfier’ are big, bold and beautiful while other tracks evoke a sweet naivety from simple key changes, odd time signatures and delicately affecting violins. They draw the crowd in gently only to go all out on the last song: a rousing 8 minute anthem, ‘Great Famine Family’, propelled by marching rhythms and a sing-a-long whereby the ‘sis’ of the group blends her buttery vocals with those of lead singer, Alexander Comana. It goes without saying that great things should be expected from this BBC Introducing band.”

On the first date of our June tour we will be playing at Dalston Roof Park in London. The night is being hosted by the ‘See Hear Club’ who have also asked us to pick a film to be screened on the night. After a lot of thought we decided on one of our collective favourites from 2011: ‘Drive’. We’re very excited about this one.

BAND OF THE DAY #188 - Among Brothers

Among Brothers hail from Cardiff and have been compared to bands like Efterklang, Grammatics and Anathallo. The group primarily indulges in ambitious orchestral pop. The majority of the music comprises of lush orchestral textures, piano and the ubiquitous twinkle of the glockenspiel. They fuse electronic rhythms, theatrical chants and percussive flourishes to create vibrant pop-influenced arrangements anchored by narrative themes.

The Great Escape – 10^th of May

We’re very happy to announce that we will be playing this year’s Great Escape in Brighton. We will be on the Kissability stage at 7.15pm in the Green Door Store. The Great Escape have also made us their Band Of The Day. This means that they will be exclusively streaming our new track ‘Rush And Pull’ over on their website for a week.

Camden Crawl – 5^th of May

Equally as exciting, is the fact we will be heading to Camden Crawl this year to play a set on the Sŵn stage. We will be playing at the Black Cap at 4.30pm

Headline Tour - June

We will be heading out on a UK tour at the beginning of June. Here are the dates:

4^th June – Dalston, Rooftop Show
5^th June – Leeds, The Empire
6^th June – Birmingham, The End

As mentioned above we have a new song that we’re giving away for free, at the moment it’s only available on the Great Escape website, but we will be putting it up for download on our Bandcamp and Soundcloud pages next week.
